Primor Sluchin, harp

 Primor Sluchin

Born into a musical family in 1977, Primor Sluchin's father is a trombonist for the Ensemble InterContemporain (EIC) and her mother a violist and musical therapist.  Ms. Sluchin benefited very early from an eclectic musical education.

At the age of eight, she joined the Conservatoire National Superieur Musique de Paris to study with Annie Fontaine.  In June 2001, she was unanimously awarded first prize.   Noticed by harpist Marielle Nordmann, Ms. Sluchin was accepted into her advanced class in the CNS de Paris.

A joint finalist of the International Contest of Israel in 2002, she also won the first prizes of the international contest of the UFAM in Paris, as well as the Concours de Musique de Chambre d'Arles.  She is a 2002 Laureate of the Spedidam prize of the Concours International Martine Géliot.

In 2003 the prestigious grant of the Karajan Academy allowed Ms. Sluchin to join the Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra and to perfect her skills under harpist Marie-Pierre Langlamet.

Ms. Sluchin's concert experiences reflect her taste for diversity and her talent for exploring new musical domains.  Besides performing as a soloist and chamber musician with orchestras such as  the Tel Aviv Chamber Orchestra, Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and Louis Poulet Chamber Orchestra in Belgium, she is a member of the Multilateral Ensemble which promotes French musical creation.  She also regularly plays in the Duo Sluchin with her brother, violinist Naaman Sluchin.

Having received the State Diploma, she has taught at the Conservatory of Neuilly-sur-Marne and served in many international juries.  Her extensive experiences have given her the maturity of a more seasoned performer.

Principal harpist for the Opéra Royal de Wallonie since 2003, Primor Sluchin plays on a Lyon & Healy (American workmanship) harp.

This is Ms. Sluchin's second performance with the Ashland Symphony Orchestra.
