Dr. Amanda Bekeny Personnel Manager
Amanda graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Trumpet Performance from The Ohio State University, where, as a student of Timothy Leasure, she was awarded the A. Peter Costanza Award for the most distinguished DMA document. Following her doctoral studies, Amanda attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as a student of David Burkhart. Amanda also holds a Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was a student of John Aley and Alan Campbell. Amanda began her musical career at The College of Wooster under the instruction of her longtime mentor and friend, Dr. Jack Gallagher. A busy performer, Amanda plays in ensembles throughout Northeastern Ohio, including as a member of the Ashland Symphony Orchestra and the Olympic Brass. She is a former member of the Wisconsin Brass Quintet, RED {an orchestra}, Ohio Light Opera Orchestra, and Ohio State Faculty Chamber Orchestra. Amanda has also performed with the Madison Symphony, Madison Opera Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony, Wheeling Symphony, Wooster Symphony, Kent-Blossom Chamber Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony, Metropolitan Brass Quintet, and Columbus Bach Ensemble. Amanda has been a featured soloist with the Chagrin Valley Chamber Orchestra, Wooster Symphony, Scot Symphonic Band, Hillsdale High School Concert Band, Westlake Jazz Ensemble, and Southwest Jazz Festival Ensemble. Amanda can be heard on recordings ranging from operettas of the Ohio Light Opera to the pop music of “Moviola.” |
